CAIRO – 10 July 2017: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry accused Qatar of supporting terror groups in order to spread chaos in Arab societies, in his speech before the 44th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Session number 44 of OIC was held on Monday. The session tackled the organization’s efforts to counter terrorism, extremism and Islamophobia, and the latest developments in the regional and international scenes. It placed a great effort particularly on the situation in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Afghanistan.

Shoukry referred to the reports issued by the UN's Libya Sanctions Committee; which presented evidence on Qatar’s sponsorship of terrorist groups and smuggling of arms to war-torn countries.

Arab and Gulf countries, mainly Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E, and Bahrain, have severed their ties with Qatar over accusations of “supporting terrorist group.”

Four countries have also sent Doha an ultimatum consisting of a 13-point demands to end the standoff.

They also labeled 59 individuals and 12 organizations that have ties with Qatar, as “terrorists”. Qatari airspace and maritime access have been close as of early June.
