Egypt allocated $450 M to provide all types of COVID-19 vaccines: Presidential Adviser

CAIRO - 22 November 2021:  Egypt has allocated $450 million to provide all types of internationally-approved coronavirus vaccines, thanks to its political relations, said Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el Din in a symposium organized by Ain Shams University on Monday.

 

Last week, he said Egypt currently has a large number of COVID-19 vaccines, noting that the Egyptian government has allocated all the necessary funds to obtain these vaccines.

 

Tag el Din pointed out that Egypt has more than 1,000 vaccination centers spread throughout the country and that there is currently a ‘very high demand’ of citizens to get vaccinated.

 

The total number of those who have received COVID-19 vaccines reached 41 million citizens so far, said Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar in media remarks to Al-Haya Al-Youm program on “Al Haya” T.V. on Wednesday evening.

 

This number stands for those who are fully vaccinated and those who administered one dose, he said, adding that this number is expected to increase before the end of the year.

 

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday issued directives for expanding COVID-19 vaccination campaigns for citizens and facilitating relevant procedures.

 

Sisi also instructed to proceed with awareness-raising campaigns for all citizens as regards anti-coronavirus precautionary measures, especially in crowded places like government bodies, universities, and schools.
