FMs of Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, France hail deep relations between their countries

CAIRO – 19 November 2021: The foreign ministers of Egypt, Greece, Cyprus and France asserted the importance of giving more attention to pushing forward regional and international peace and stability as well as inclusive economic development.

In the final statement of the quadrilateral meeting for the foreign ministers of Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, and France held in Athens, the ministers hailed the deeply-rooted relations between their countries and called for continuing cooperation.

The statement also said that the ministers had discussed the joint action to reach common goals in various fields including energy, climate change, combating Covid-19 and immigration.

According to the statement, the minsters referred to the ‘excellent relations’ among all four countries, in full accordance with International Law and the Law of the Sea. They stressed the strategic nature of their relationship.

The Minsters added that that their views converged regarding security and stability.

They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation and to continue working together to achieve common objectives in different fields including energy, climate change, combating the Covid-19 pandemic and migration.

In conclusion, The Minsters affirmed that priority should be given to the advancement of peace and stability, both regionally and globally, and to comprehensive economic development.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks on Friday with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides on developing the bilateral ties and crystalizing the outcomes of the higher committee held in September in Cairo.

The talks came on the sidelines of Shoukry's meeting with the foreign ministers of Greece, France, and Cyprus in Athens.

 A Quadrilateral meeting for the foreign ministers of Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, and France kicked off on Friday, a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry read.

According to Cypriot reports, the ministers tackled recent developments in Eastern Mediterranean as well the Cypriot issue.

They also discussed updates in the Sahel, the Gulf as well as the Libyan crisis.
