CAIRO – 17 November 2021: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated on Wednesday in the ministerial meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for the Coordination of the International Assistance to Palestinians (AHLC), chaired by Norway.

During the meeting, Shoukry affirmed via videoconference continued support to the AHLC as an important international mechanism to coordination efforts among relevant parties with the aim of backing Palestinian people.

Shoukry affirmed the importance of working on crystalizing a complete vision regarding meeting the humanitarian needs and overcoming the economic crisis in Palestine.

This comes especially in light of the implications of the coronavirus pandemic and requirements of reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, Shoukry said, affirming that this requires backing the Palestinian national authorities in the face of these challenges.

The minister underscored Egypt’s efforts and endeavors to provide humanitarian support to the Palestinian people and to implement Gaza reconstruction.

Shoukry affirmed the need that international donors continue to provide support to the Palestinian people.

He also called for the international community to carry out its role in providing the appropriate environment necessary for the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

This should lead to a comprehensive settlement based on the international legitimacy resolutions and relevant UN Security Council decisions.
