CAIRO – 22 October 2021: The final communique at Thursday’s conference to support the Libyan stability affirmed the permanent and firm commitment of the Libyan government to the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The conference was held with broad participation of the UN, the Arab League, the European Union, as well as representatives from numerous Arab and European countries ahead of the Libyan elections scheduled for 24 December.

The communique voiced the Libyan government’s categorical rejection of foreign interference, and condemnation of attempts to violate the arms embargo and foment chaos.

In a press conference, Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush said the communique also affirms the Libyan government's commitment to implementing Security Council resolutions on Libya, the outcome of the Berlin Conference and the roadmap issued by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

The communique also affirmed the Libyan government's welcome to the return of the embassies of countries to work from inside the Libyan capital and calls for the rest of the countries to resume the work of their embassies inside Tripoli.

The communique praised the pivotal role of each of the UN in supporting stability in Libya, as well as the efforts of the African Union and its high-level committee of heads of states and the AU governments, the quartet committee, the European Union, the Arab League and the neighboring countries of Libya.

It also stressed the importance of taking the necessary measures to build confidence and create an appropriate environment for holding the Libyan national elections in a fair, transparent and inclusive manner on 24 December.

Ending the conflict and achieving security and stability is a basis for achieving peace and building the Libyan state, a pillar of peaceful coexistence, and a driver for the economy and development, the communique stressed.

The Libyan government is determined to take the initiative within the framework of leading international efforts to end the crisis in Libya, the communique said.

The government’s launch of the initiative to support Libya's stability comes as a step within the framework of implementing UN Security Council resolutions and the outcomes of the Berlin conferences on Libya, the communique explained.

The communique also affirmed the Libyan government's support for the efforts made by the 5+5 Joint Military Committee to fully implement the terms of the ceasefire and the action plans that were approved in the 13th round of talks held in Geneva, Mangoush said.

She stressed the Libyan authorities' respect for their international obligations and commitments and respect for international humanitarian law and international human rights law in the framework of protecting and promoting human rights.

Mangoush also stressed the Libyan authorities' cooperation with the fact-finding mission of the UN Human Rights Council to facilitate its tasks.
