CAIRO - 21 October 2021: The second phase of the “Environmental Pioneers Program”, announced by “Youth Love Egypt” foundation in March 2021, was launched on Thursday.

The second phase was launched in collaboration with the Environmental Commitment Office of the Egyptian Federation of Industries, Twitter Foundation, and United Nations.

The program seeks to form a core of young people who can raise awareness and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt Vision 2030, as well as empowering young people with the right knowledge and tools to find solutions to climate change.

The program is also important in light of Egypt's announcement that it is looking forward to hosting COP27.

The first phase of the program was implemented in March at the Greek Campus at the American University in Cairo, where participants were provided with valuable information on environmental issues and the sustainable development goals such as climate change, biodiversity, renewable energy, and waste management.

A total of 70 trainees attended the first phase of the program and 45 of them were promoted to participate in the second phase to complete what they have received in the first phase.

The training program was announced in February 2021, where hundreds of young men and women applied, and trainees were admitted to the first phase based on several criteria, including that trainees must be between 18-30 years old, in addition to sending an explanatory video on why they wanted to join the program, and 70 of the 720 trainees were selected.

The second phase of training has been resumed Thursday at The Greek Campus at the American University in Cairo IN cooperate with SOIC, in the presence of a group of environmental trainers.

The training will continue throughout September and throughout October 2021, where the role of young people in addressing the climate crisis and the most important emerging projects to adapt to climate change and create green jobs are discussed. Waste management will also be discussed in terms of waste types, how they are managed and recycled, emission damages as well as how to regenerate energy from waste.
