CAIRO – 20 October 2021: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi attended Wednesday 2021 Police Academy Commencement witnessing shows that display the training they received during their years of study at the academy, and honoring those who came on top of their class.

Along with Egyptians, graduates included students of 12 African countries and Palestine as well as females.

In his speech, the president said, "While I congratulate you, I must tell you that you have to be idols when dealing with the citizen and his safety. Please, remember that handling their security matters and personal interests is a matter of great importance. I know that dealing with public opinion and the people is not easy but the development we want consists of reflecting a good image.

President Sisi also urged the inclusion of the "martyr salute" in the Police Academy's commencements the same as it exists at those of the Military Academy.

Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik affirmed in his speech that Egyptian police work on expanding the role of female officers to include combat missions. That is why they received the necessary training that qualifies them for that type of work.

Moreover, admissions have been open for female graduates of law and teaching schools to study at the Police Academy for two years so they would become instructors at the academy when they complete the programme. They would also be eligible to enroll at the master's programme in law offered at the academy.

Tawfik added that lectures on human rights have been included in the curricula, and that others on peacekeeping have been introduced in graduate school.

The minister thanked the Egyptian Armed Forces for its cooperation with the police, and saluted the souls of the martyrs from both establishments. He asserted that the Ministry of Interior is deploying all efforts to foil terror attacks, and identify terrorists.
