CAIRO - 18 October 2021: The Cairo Economic Court of Appeal sentenced a doctor, who insulted an elderly nurse and asking him to kneel and pray for his dog, to one year in prison with suspension on Monday.

The court also fined two other co-defendants LE 50,000 each for bullying the male nurse

Pervasively the Cairo Economic Court had sentenced doctor Amr Khairy and  the 2 others to two years in prison, a fine of LE 100,000 each, and ordered them to pay LE 20,000 in compensation to the nurse.

In September 2021, Egypt’s Prosecutor General Hamada el Sawy ordered a probe into a video showing the doctor, who was working at Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital, insulting the nurse, forcing him to do jump ropes and salute his dog.

The four-minute video, which went viral on social media platforms, caused a wave of anger among  users who saw the doctor misusing his power against the nurse, abusing him and publishing these videos on social media.

As for the doctor who appeared in the video, he claimed that his mobile phone was hacked and the hackers were blackmailing him to restore his date back.

The nurse, Adel Salem, however, affirmed that the whole situation took place as it was showed, six months ago.
