CAIRO - 17 October 2021: All COVID-19 vaccines available in Egypt are given to all Egyptians and non-Egyptians for free for all citizens, but the QR code vaccination certificates are given for fees, said the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
“The value of the QR code certificate does not mean that vaccines are not free of charge,” the Ministry added in a statement on Sunday.
The QR code certificates are given for the purposes of traveling abroad for a fee of LE 250, and LE 100 for internal purposes, the ministry said. For non-Egyptians, they have to pay $25 for the certifcate.
Those certificates are fully secured as they have been released by the secured and smart documents complex with QR Codes. When these codes are scanned by mobile phones, the certificate holder’s data, photo and status as regards the virus vaccine will appear.
The Health Ministry said Saturday night that 874 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of infections since the outbreak in the country to 317,585.
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 42 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 17,926.
As many as 855 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 268,210, the spokesman added.
