CAIRO – 15 October 2021:  Egypt’s Interior Ministry granted one exceptional visit to all inmates in Egyptian prisons on the occasion of Al-Mawled al-Nabawi (anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday).

The visit will not be deducted from the number of legalized visits granted for prisoners throughout their jail term, according the Ministry.

The exceptional visit comes as part of the Ministry of Interior's keenness on upholding the values of human rights alongside the application of its penal policy and a modern correctional system.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi wished the Egyptian Muslim communities abroad a happy and blessed Mawlid al-Nabawi, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday anniversary, the state-owned news agency MENA reported.

President Sisi's cables of best wishes were posted on their social media pages of the Egyptian communities on Friday.

Millions of Muslims in Egypt and many other countries all around the world are already preparing to celebrate it, as the day will be full of wonderful activities and religious rituals.

A week before the celebration, pastry shops display the traditional sweets known as “Halawat al-Mawlid”, with queues of Egyptian families buying boxes of the sweets and shops decorated with the Mawlid doll and accessories.
