CAIRO – 13 October 2021: UN's High-Level Climate Action Champion, Nigel Topping, said that Egypt has great capabilities in renewable energy sector, during a TV interview.

 

Nigel Topping, a high-level representative of the United Nations for the International Climate Conference, pointing to his meeting with a number of Egyptian ministers and officials, expressing his fascination with the great interest put into energy and climate issues.

 

Nigel Topping added, in his meeting with the journalist Ramy Radwan, on the “Masaa DMC” TV program that Egypt will host the UN Climate Change Conference next year, and that he feels very excited about this matter.

 

“More than 100 world leaders have confirmed their attendance at the conference, but I think the number of attendees will reach 120 or 124."

 

Topping further explained that many issues will be raised during the UN Climate Change Conference with the participation of countries and investors, pointing to the need to reach “zero” carbon emissions during the year 2050.

 

“We have to look for alternative sources of energy in the foreground,” he added in TV statements.

 

He continued, "Many companies have started to manufacture electric cars, and this helps to confront climate changes. There is a plan to preserve agricultural lands and help developing countries in climate change issues, and we are working to invest in the green economy, and this supports the development process."
