CAIRO- 23 September 2021: A total of 692 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Egypt in 24 hours, topping the number of infected cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 to 298,988 people, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 daily briefing on Wednesday.
The death cases reported in the same period reached 27 fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 17,043, the statement added.
As many as 507 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 251,902.
The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals has reached 84.3% percent, according to the Ministry of Health's statement on Sunday.
Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed said the country has received a total of 33.657 million doses of AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Egypt also plans to release 1.926 million doses of the locally-made Sinovac vaccine between 18 to 24 September, the minister said in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
