6K recovered addicts trained in vocational training programs in Egypt: Minister

CAIRO – 22 September 2021: Nearly 6,000 recovered addicts were engaged in a vocational training program, announced the Egyptian Minister of Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj.

 

The recovered were trained on professions that are needed in the labor market in Egypt, she said. Dr. Al-Qabbaj added that the ministry also has provided financial support for small projects run by the recovered worth L.E. 5.2 million, with the support of Nasser Social Bank.

 

“We are witnessing in the second half of next October the opening of the first addiction treatment center to be equipped and furnished by the recovered addicts in Upper Egypt’s Qena govenorate,” she said.

 

The number of addiction treatment centers in Egypt will rise to 28 in 18 governorates by October, compared to 12 centers in 7 governorates in 2014.   

 

The minister further explained that the methodology of the Ministry of Social Solidarity's work with the recovered addicts is based on its orientation to comprehensive social development.

 

Dr. Qabbaj also affirmed the Fund is keen to provide, at all its treatment centers and partners with the hotline “16023,” thecomponents for physical and sports rehabilitation for addictive patients, a physical specialist and an integrated sports program for inmates with the aim of consolidating the practice of sports and establishing its values ​​among guests.
