CAIRO – 6 September 2021: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will receive on Tuesday his Burundian counterpart Albert Shingiro in Cairo, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

A meeting between both Ministers will be held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs downtown Cairo.

Afterward, a joint press conference will be held, the statement said.

In April 2021, Egyptian and Burundian army Chiefs of staff signed a military protocol that includes cooperation in the fields of training and joint exercise.

The Egyptian-Burundian cooperation protocol enables the two armies to exchange expertise and reflects the consensus in the visions of the two countries’ armies toward the issues of mutual concern, a statement by the Egyptian army spokesman said.

In March 2021, Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye visited Cairo for an official 3-day visit to Egypt in which he met with several high-profile political officials.
