CAIRO - 2 September 2021: Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed revealed that 1.6 million of State's administrative apparatus personnel were vaccinated against coronavirus.

During the weekly cabinet meeting under Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Wednesday, Zayed updated the premier on the epidemic situation in Egypt as well as the latest developments on the ongoing coordination with the education and higher education ministries to vaccinate university students and staffers operating in the educational domain ahead of the new school year.

The ministry plans to administer the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to all education workers by September 15, Zayed said, noting that all workers will be fully inoculated against the virus in October.

She added that coordination is underway with the higher education ministry to create a database for 2.2 million students to get them vaccinated and issue vaccination certificates for them with a QR code system.

Meanwhile, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that as many as 289 vaccination centers had been set up at 59 universities nationwide, of which 52 universities had already received the first batch of vaccine doses.
