Egypt’s Islamic Institutions condemns ISIS-K terrorist attacks at Kabul airport

CAIRO  - 27 August 2021: Egypt’s Islamic institutions condemned the ISIS-K terrorist attacks that targeted Kabul airport in Afghanistan on Thursday and claimed the lives of more than 100 people, including 13 members of the US military service in Afghanistan.

In a statement issued by Al-Azhar institution, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb condemned the attacks and offered his condolences to Afghanistan people for the victims.

 

Egyptian Grad Mufti Shawqi Allam also condemned the two terrorist attacks, stressed that Islam completely rejects all forms of assault on innocent people and prohibits slaughtering, killing, kidnapping, intimidation, theft, or any form of harming.

 

In a statement, Allam called on the international community to take the necessary measures to confront terrorism and stop the waves of extremism.

 

The Mufti offered his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

 

The Islamic State in Afghanistan (aka ISIS- Khorasan) announced its responsibility for the two attacks at the airport.

 

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the two bombing attacks, offering condolences to the families of the victims.

 

Egypt also reiterated its solidarity for combating terrorism, violence, extremism in all forms, the statement added.

 

Two Suicide bombers caused huge explosions near the gates of Kabul airport causing the killing and injuring of dozens of civilians and US troops amid the evacuation process with the approaching of the deadline that was announced by the Taliban to end all evacuations from the airport.

 

Hundreds of Afghans were desperately crowded at Hamid Karzai International Airport since August 14, since the Taliban has taken over the power in Kabul.

 

The United States along with other European Countries warned Wednesday night of "possible terrorist attacks" in Kabul airport, urging its citizens to stay away from the airport and evacuate all surrounding areas.
