CAIRO - 18 August 2020: Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said the ministry's affiliated healthcare institutions including eight hospitals operating in Cairo and Alexandria governorates offered health services to 1.22 million citizens during the period between July, 1, 2020 and May, 31, 2021.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said Wednesday services include medical check-ups, surgical operations in various specialties, lab tests and x-rays.

According to the spokesman all the facilities are equipped with the latest health-related equipment, referring to all efforts meant to ramp out government healthcare institutions.

He noted that the institutions have carried out more than 15,000 surgical operations, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's floated initiative, that aimed at eliminating hospitals' waitlists.
