CAIRO – 17August 2021: The Qatari new Ambassador to Egypt, arrived Cairo on Tuesday to take over his duties after an absence of more than four years following the withdrawal of the ambassadors of Egypt and Qatar after the Arab Quartet crisis in mid-2017

 Ambassador Salem Mubarak Al Shafi, Qatar's new ambassador to Egypt, arrived in Cairo from Doha on Tuesday.

Ambassador Hatem Al-Nashar, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs, and members of the Qatari Embassy in Egypt received Al Shafi at Cairo Airport upon his arrival. The new Qatari ambassador to Egypt will present his credentials to senior Egyptian officials in the coming days in preparation for the official start of his work.

Last June, Egypt and Qatar have agreed on settling all outstanding issues between the two countries during the coming stage, following the signing of "Al-Ula Declaration" on January 5, 2021, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez.

During a meeting held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Doha, the two ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive developments witnessed in the Egyptian-Qatari relations following the signing of ‘Al-Ula Declaration’, and agreed on the importance of moving forward in taking the necessary measures and procedures to build on what was achieved through operationalizing the various bilateral cooperation frameworks.
