CAIRO – 17 August 2021: Egypt recorded Monday 107 COVID-19 infections, and six deaths as well as 136 recoveries at isolation hospitals.  

 

As such, the total figures became 285,465 infections, 16,625 deaths, and 234,250 recoveries.

 

President Advisor for Health and Prevention affairs Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din said Monday that no mutations for coronavirus have been detected in Egypt so far.

 

He added that there is a slight increase in Coronavirus infections, whereas the patients showing mild to medium symptoms.

 

In his statements to DMC channel, Taj El-Din noted that the health ministry is closely following with all of the updates regarding COVID mutations. “Until this moment, things are still stable, but caution must be taken, and precautionary measures must be followed to limit the increase of COVID-19 daily infections.” The health advisor said.

 

"If the numbers continue to increase, we might say that Egypt has entered the fourth wave of Coronavirus, but we are only witnessing a small increase in the infections, and trying to obtain and provide the largest possible number of vaccines, which we have already a diversity of them available." Taj El-Din said.

 

Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced, Monday, that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus.

 

The Ministry explained that all of the five vaccines have emergency approvals from the Egyptian Medicines Authority.

 

The Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed noted that the available vaccines are: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Johnson& Johnson and Sinovac.

 

He called on all citizens to register online [http://www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg] and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
