Egypt condoles with Haiti people for victims of devastating earthquake

CAIRO - 15 August 2021:  Egypt expressed on Saturday its sincere condolences and sympathies to the Republic of Haiti, and to the families of the innocent victims of the devastating earthquake which resulted in hundreds of deaths, injuries, and persons unaccounted for; wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured.
 
“The Egyptian government and people also affirm that they stand in solidarity with the government and people of friendly Haiti in this plight,” the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
 
A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Caribbean island on Saturday and occurred 125 km west of the capital city of Port-au-Prince at a depth of 10 kilometers, said the U.S. Geological Survey. It claimed the lives of at least 304 people and injured more than 1,800 others. Besides, it devastated hundreds of homes. The country braces for another natural threat of “Tropical Storm Grace” that would occur in the coming few days.
