CAIRO – 12 August 2021: Egypt extends “sincere” condolences to Mali in the wake of attacks in Mali perpetrated against civilians, causing the death of more than 50 people, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The attacks in the Gao region, carried out suspected terrorists earlier this week, wounded several others.

“Egypt “expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy with the sisterly Mali in the wake of the attack witnessed by some villages in the Gao region witnessed,” the ministry said, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The ministry also affirmed solidarity with Mali along with the Malian government and people in the face of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism.

Al-Azhar, Egypt’s top religious authority, also condemned the attacks against Mali, affirming that these terrorist groups seek corruption on earth and justify bloodshed of innocent people for despicable purposes.

Al-Azhar said such purposes are rejected by normal souls and prove that these groups are stripped of all meanings of mercy and humanity.
