CAIRO – 9 July 2017: Egypt’s security forces were deployed in El-Safaa district in Arish city of North Sinai and imposed a security cordon, where an explosion occurred Saturday.

Two policemen were killed and nine conscripts were injured when an explosive charge went off, hitting an armored vehicle in El-Safaa district.

Security measures have been beefed up in the vicinity of the blast scene, while sappers are combing the area in search for any other explosive devices, the source said.

The blast came a day after a terrorist attack on a military checkpoint in southern Rafah, leaving at least 26 army servicemen dead and injured. The army said that 40 terrorists were killed in the attack.
