CAIRO – 9 August 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq meet on Monday with Iraqi counterpart Osman al Ghanemi, who is currently visiting Cairo on the top of a high-ranking delegation.

The visit aims at boosting ties between the two sides on issues of common interest, including confronting terrorism and extremist in all of the Arab region.

During the meeting, both officials reviewed all aspects of cooperation and the latest regional and international developments.

Iraqi minister, Osman al Ghanemi, voiced his appreciation for the Egyptian interior ministry and its role in combating terrorism and extremist groups, saying that his visit to Cairo aims at exchanging expertise with the Egyptian security apparatus, beefing up communication channels as well as maintaining contacts.

Tawfiq, for his part, underlined the importance of his Iraqi counterpart's visit to exchange views on all issues related to combating terrorism and extremism at the regional level.

He also welcomed the exchange of information and expertise with the Iraqi side and asserted the importance of consolidating stability and security in all Arab countries
