CAIRO – 5 August 2021: The Health Ministry said 51 new coronavirus cases were detected on Thursday, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 284,523.
 
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 7 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,557.
 
As many as 101 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 232,280 so far, the spokesman said.
 
Egypt will receive 148.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine between August and the year end, Health Minister Hala Zayed said last month.
 
The doses will be sufficient to inoculate 83.7 million citizens, the minister said during the weekly cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli at the cabinet headquarters in new Alamein city.
