CAIRO – 4 August 2021: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the importance for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave Libya without delay.

During a phone call with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio, Wednesday both officials discussed the latest developments in Libya and Tunisia.

Di Maio briefed Shoukry on the outcome of his recent visit to Libya and his meetings with Libyan parties.

Shoukry stressed the importance of abiding by the roadmap adopted by the Libyan political forum and UNSC resolution no. 2570, which called for holding presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021 and kicking all foreign forces and mercenaries out of Libya without delay.

Shoukry also affirmed the need for supporting Tunisia's stability and meeting the aspirations of the Tunisian people.

He voiced Egypt's support for all measures taken by Tunisian President Kais Saied to fulfill the needs of the Tunisian people and safeguard the state's institutions.
