What you need to know about Fayoum’s 1st noise monitoring station

CAIRO – 31 July 2021: Egyptian Ministry of Environment has completed the construction and installation of the first instantaneous monitoring station to detect environmental noise levels in Fayoum city.

 

This comes as part of the government’s plan to achieve the targets of the environmental dimension in the Sustainable Development Strategy 2030.

 

In the following report, we learn about the station and its usefulness:

 

1- The establishment of the station comes as a continuation of the work of expanding the scope of the national network to monitor noise levels.

 

2- It aims to assess the current situation of environmental noise levels in Fayoum governorate, and to benefit from these results in preparing solutions and strategic plans for noise reduction.

 

3- The number of monitoring stations in the national network for monitoring noise levels reached 36 stations distributed all over the country.

 

4- Huge efforts are exerted to develop the national network for monitoring noise, and to assess the current situation of noise levels within the plan of the Ministry of Environment.

 

5- The National Network for Monitoring Noise Levels aims to assess noise levels and prepare a map for them.

 

6- A database on noise levels is being created to be used when constructing new facilities, and major national projects such as: highways, bridges, hospitals, schools and residential areas.
