Egypt, South Sudan to hold round of political consultations soon

CAIRO – 28 July 2021: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Tuesday his South Sudanese counterpart Beatrice Khamisa Wani-Noah in Cairo as they agreed on holding a round of political consultations between both countries soon.

 

Both FMs also conferred over a number of regional and international affairs of mutual interest, particularly the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) crisis and developments in East of Africa and the Horn of Africa, a press statement indicates.

 

The visit comes within convening the Supreme Joint Egyptian-South Sudanese Committee as the vice-president, the minister of animal resources and fisheries, and the minister of irrigation of the fellow African state are also in Egypt.

 

What's more, Minister Shokry asserted Egypt's continuous support to South Sudan's vital sectors as well as backing to the endeavors aimed at reinforcing peace and stability constituting the base needed to embark on development plans.
