CAIRO – 23 July 2021: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that Russia takes an equal stance regarding the differences between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt over the Renaissance Dam, calling on all parties to take a responsible approach to resolving the water dispute, according to MENA agency.

Zakharova said - in press statements broadcast by the Russian (Sputnik) agency - that Russia took an equal position on July 8 regarding the differences between the three countries regarding the filling and operation of the hydroelectric complex.

She stressed that Russia sees an urgent need to continue consultations between the two parties after the second phase of filling the dam's reservoir, including taking into account the readiness expressed by the Ethiopian side for such consultations.

Zakharova concluded her statements by calling on all parties to take a responsible approach to the problem of settling the dispute over Nile water, expressing her hope for a quick result of mutual benefit in the spirit of the most important principle of "African problems - African solutions."
