CAIRO – 3 July 2021: For the third year in a row, the Canadian city of Ontario is raising the Egyptian flag on the parliament building to acquaint the world with Egypt's long history, pivotal role and precious civilization.

The Ontario government has designated July of each year to celebrate the Month of Egyptian Civilization and Heritage, in appreciation of the efforts and contributions of all Egyptian Canadians to Canadian society.

The celebrations of the occasion, which began Friday evening, witnessed the lighting of the “CN Tower” tower, Canada’s most recognizable and celebrated icon in the colors of the Egyptian flag, in addition to live performances by two young Egyptian-Canadian musicians: Natalie and Essam, who presented live performances of flute and tabla.

The activities of this occasion are organized by the Canadian Authority for Egyptian Heritage

The Canadian Authority for Egyptian Heritage in Canada organized, under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and with the support of Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, and Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Ambassador of Egypt to Canada, and Ambassador Hossam Muharram, Consul General of Egypt in Montreal.

In the same context, the Minister of Immigration explained that this event confirms the strong relations between the Egyptian and Canadian peoples. The celebration of Heritage Month will be held this year under the auspices of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, praising the role of Egyptian soft powers, which represent a great force in strengthening relations between the Egyptian people and other peoples.

The Minister of Immigration added that “the Egyptians in Canada are ambassadors of the Egyptian state, to introduce our history and civilization that arose on the banks of the Nile.”

She added that there are successful Egyptian symbols in all fields that can act as Egyptian soft powers, by sending a message to the Canadian society that confirms that Egypt has offered many things to the humanity in all fields.

It is noteworthy that the celebration of the month of Egyptian civilization began in Canada and the raising of the Egyptian flag in front of the Canadian Parliament of Ontario in July 2019 AD after MP Sherif El-Sabaawy, Member of the Parliament of Ontario, with the support of the Egyptian community in Canada, submitted Bill 106 to Parliament, which was discussed and voted upon to become a valid law, and part of the constitution, so that the district celebrates annually in July the great Egyptian civilization and heritage.
