CAIRO – 8 July 2017: A Muslim man in London was stopped by English police on his way to Jummah (Friday) prayer. Under suspicion by the officers, the man was handcuffed and extensively searched only because he was wearing too many clothes.

The independent organization Documenting Oppression Against Muslims (DOAM) made a video documenting everything that happened to the Muslim man and posted it on their Twitter account. The video went viral along with the hashtag #WearingClothesWhileMuslim.

Citing the freedom to wear as many layers of clothes as wanted and noting the likelihood this “security measure” not happening to non-Muslims, many social media comments were in support of the Muslim man.
