CAIRO – 21 June 2021: UN activities in Egypt in partnership with the Egyptian government towards achieving sustainable development are estimated at one billion and 200 million dollars, stated Eman Mahdi, an official of the United Nations Coordinator's Office in Egypt.

Mahdi said that the global sustainable development plans were negatively affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, she added that Egypt has set rapid alternative plans to respond under partnership with the United Nations, in order to expand social protection networks.

Egypt includes 39 United Nations offices in Egypt, including 20 country offices, 18 regional offices and an office in Alexandria, and all of these offices work closely in partnership with the government sector, she explained.

This came during the workshop, which deals with the third goal on good health and well-being within the series of workshops organized by the United Nations Information Center to shed light on the goals of sustainable development.
