Egypt to receive 1.9M AstraZeneca doses, 1M Sinopharm doses within days

CAIRO – 15 June 2021: Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Khaled Megahed stated Tuesday that Egypt will receive within days 1.9 million AstraZeneca doses through Covax, and one million Sinopharm doses within a week.

It is noted that Egypt is getting 40 million doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine through Covax. Until present, the country got 2.2 million doses of those in addition to two million Sinopharm doses within a deal with China comprising 20 million doses.

Furthermore, Egypt will produce 40 million doses annually of Sinovac and Sputnic V vaccines. Production of the former will begin in a few days as 1,400 liters of raw material have been delivered by China to produce 2,250,000 doses as a first phase. The second consists of five million doses.

The ministry also stated that 10 million Sputnic V doses will be delivered to Egypt soon.
