Health sector budget in 2021/2022 is 16.2% higher than year before

CAIRO – 13 June 2021: The health sector in 2021/2022 is expected to have a budget 16.27 percent higher than that of the year before, highlighting Egypt’s keenness on improving health conditions for patients and staff.

In the new financial year, the budget allocated for health will be L.E.108.8 billion, compared to L.E.93.5 billion in 2020/2021, according to the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies.

Allocations for health insurance for social solidarity pensioners amount to L.E.200 million, L.E. 5387 million for the Public Authority for Health Care, as well as allocations for the anti-Hepatitis C campaign and other campaigns to beat the waiting list of patients awaiting critical surgeries, raise the efficiency of hospitals, free medicines, vaccines, baby formula, medical supplies and devices, intensive care beds, and childcare.

The new budget will about a billion Egyptian pounds in incentives for medical staff who work in the campaign against the coronavirus and Hepatitis C.
