CAIRO - 24 May 2020: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati lauded the continuous coordination between the bodies of the Irrigation Ministry and the environment police to remove the encroachments on the Nile River.

This came during Abdel Aati's tour to follow up the removal of encroachments on the River Nile in Greater Cairo.

Abdel Aati said that the bodies of the ministry continue to implement the 17th wave of removing the encroachments on the Nile.

As many as 4,357 encroachments were removed from an area of 648,000 square meters, he said.

A national campaign was launched to protect the River Nile on January 5, 2015 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to limit the spread of encroachments on the Nile, he said.
