CAIRO – 22 May 2021: The Lebanese Presidency announced Saturday seizing a huge shipment of hashish in the Port of Sidon Jieh before it was set to be smuggled into Egypt.

The President of the Lebanese Republic, Michel Aoun, affirmed thwarting an attempted smuggle of four tons of hashish that was set to arrive in Alexandria through the old port of Sidon.

In a statement, Aoun praised efforts exerted by the Lebanese customs, in coordination with the anti-drug office in the Lebanese Judicial police, army intelligence and public security.

President Aoun stressed that thwarting the smuggling attempt shows Lebanon’s keenness to combat all kinds of smuggling as it harm Lebanon’s reputation, and its relations with brotherly countries.
