CAIRO – 15 May 2021: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Friday a phone call from Tunisian counterpart Othman Jerandi as they examined efforts deployed to end the Israeli aggression and clashes on Palestinian territories.

Minister Shokry valued Tunisian efforts at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the role Tunisia is playing to voice the Arab stance endorsed by the Council of the Arab League on May 10.

Both ministers coordinated preparations for the UNSC's session to be held on May 16 probing ways out of the current crisis such as a ceasefire that would spare many lives that would be lost because of military operations and the Israeli attack against Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) announced Saturday the rise of deaths and injuries among Palestinians to 136 and 1,000, respectively. Victims include 31 children and 20 women. Since May 10, Israel has been launching airstrikes and shelling Gaza Strip causing the destruction of more than 200 residential units and 31 educational establishments, including schools, colleges, and vocational training centers.
