CAIRO, April 21 (MENA) – Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel al-Assoumi called for drawing up a strategic vision for the Arab media to serve the interests of the Arab region’s peoples and keep pace with the current challenges and changes in the Arab media file.

In a statement released Wednesday on the Arab Media Day, Assoumi underscored the importance of the media's role in promoting moderate religious discourse and combating terrorism.

He also emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation to confront cyber terrorism on websites and social media pages; given the pivotal role of those platforms in countering destructive ideology, combating terrorism, and promoting the concepts of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Meanwhile, Assoumi underlined the need to activate the Arab media honor charter, as well as to verify the authenticity of all forms of data, information and news broadcast by the Arab media
