CAIRO – 18 April 2021:  Egypt called upon the international community to continue supporting the developing countries to manufacture the anti-coronavirus vaccine.

In his speech at a high-level political virtual meeting held by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the coronavirus pandemic, Shoukry talked about the challenges that the international community face regarding the unfairness of vaccine distribution.

He noted that the unfairness of distribution made the pandemic be prolonged, calling for continuing the financial support to the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC).

Egypt’s Health Ministry said Saturday that 845 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 215,484.

Also, 41 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 12,694. As many as 544 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 162,714 so far, the spokesman said.
