CAIRO - 18 April 2020: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias discussed on Sunday ways of boosting bilateral cooperation.

In reiteration of the strong and deeply-rooted relations binding the two sides, Shoukry received his Greek counterpart in Cairo to continue talks on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez tweeted.

According to a tweet by the Greek minister on his official account on Twitter, his visit to Cairo comes within the framework of a diplomatic move to Athens to support its common relationship with several countries.

It is expected that he will leave Cairo for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on his tour that began in Cyprus.

In July 2020, Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El-Enani and his Greek counterpart Haris Theocharis signed an agreement on providing care for tourists visiting both countries. The two also discussed cooperation in the energy field.

In August 2020, the two countries signed a demarcation agreement that designated an exclusive economic zone between them in the Eastern Mediterranean that contains promising oil and gas reserves.

Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed said on 15 April, the country will receive until the end of May 4.5 million coronavirus vaccine doses through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX).

In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Zayed said Egypt has contracted with China’s Sinopharm to receive 20 million vaccine doses.

She added that half a million Sinopharm doses will arrive in Egypt soon.
