CAIRO- 3 July 2017: Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa arrived to Cairo on Tuesday, in a two-day visit, to attend the quartet meeting scheduled with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to discuss Qatar.

The meeting aims at discussing updates of the Qatari crisis.

Members of the Bahraini embassy in Cairo received the Bahraini official at Cairo International airport.

The four countries severed diplomatic and travel ties with Qatar last month, accusing it of supporting terrorism and being an ally of regional foe Iran, charges that Doha denies. They threatened further sanctions if Qatar did not comply with a list of 13 demands presented by Kuwait 10 days ago.

Qatar has so far not responded, despite passing the July 4 deadline.

The meeting comes within the framework of coordination and the consultation among the four countries on future steps to deal with Qatar, as well as exchanging views and assessment on existing international and regional contacts in this regard.
