CAIRO – 22 March 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged on Monday boosting the level of localization of industry and technology with any current or future activities taking place in cooperation with the French multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom.

As he met with Alstom's Chief Executive Officer Henri Poupart-Lafarge in Cairo, Sisi also called for a center to train Egyptian experts in parallel with benefiting from the foreign expertise in transferring knowledge, the Presidency said in a statement.

Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness to advance the constructive cooperation with Alstom and other French companies.

This comes within the framework of the special relations between Egypt and France and the huge expertise of the major French companies in all fields, the statement read.

Poupart-Lafarge expressed his company’s plans to expand its activities and increase its employees in Egypt, especially in light of the huge and promising investment opportunities in the transportation sector in Egypt.

The meeting also reviewed the current aspects of the Ministry of Transport's cooperation with Alstom, especially with regard to the National Authority for Tunnels and the National Railways Authority, the statement read.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir attended the meeting.
